Around Christmastime 2008, we escaped from our boltholes in West London and ran away to live in the Hampshire countryside where The Other Duckling was hatched...

Andrew's busy city worklife had revolved around state of the art digital media (a.k.a. whizzy plasma screens and interactive graphics) but but he hailed originally from the wild world of fashion photography so has a deft eye for detail and all things beautiful.  Erica is a textile designer by trade but spent a long stint in the city working in marketing and design for some big retailers and design agencies, eventually ending up managing creative at the wondrous innocent drinks. 

As we sped towards our 35th birthdays, the inevitable 'there must be more to life' debate began so we bit the bullet and romantically bought a lovely (if needy) new pad, which it now dawns on us is a lifelong project.  Between building, filling, painting, planing and tearing our hair out we started to develop our furnishing flourishes website - sourcing designers and suppliers and gathering little gems for our fleamarket finds collection.

The Other Duckling launched in the autumn of 2009.  Andrew is in charge of finding fabulous products and running the site and Erica sticks her oar in on a regular basis, manages shipping, copywrites and produces her exclusive range of knitted home accessories.  Things are still hectic, but enjoyably so and we're glad we made the break and hope you like the site.
